Bristol Airport - All Information on Bristol Airport (BRS)

For a comparatively small regional air gateway in North Somerset, Bristol Airport offers a surprisingly large number of destinations. The airport is located just 8 miles out of Bristol's city center and is connected by motorways to the north and south via the M5 and the east via the M4.

In the UK domestic destinations like Guernsey and Jersey, the Isle of Man, Newcastle and Leeds-Bradford are covered among other places and a flight connection to Northern Ireland also exists. Flights to Scotland serve the cities of Aberdeen and Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

In the Republic of Ireland the destinations of Dublin, Cork and Shannon are served while Italy is represented with seven city destinations, including Rome and Venice. It is in fact possible to fly to most major holiday destinations in Europe, from Innsbruck in Austria to Antalya in Turkey and Zurich in Switzerland. The rest of the world is represented with flight routes to Orlando in the USA, Endfidha in Tunisia, Cancun in Mexico and Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt.

Arrivals, Departures and Airlines at Bristol Airport

Bristol Airport has excellent connections by road and public transport via taxi, train, coach, bus and Airport Flyer Express link. Car rentals are also available at Bristol Airport with car hire suppliers Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar and Hertz offering reliable, affordable choices for every budget and taste.

The Airport Flyer Express leaves every 10 minutes throughout the day for Bristol Temple Mead railway station and the main bus terminal in Bristol city center. From there passengers have access to the rest of the country via rail and bus networks. From Bristol Temple Mead station it is possible to catch trains to Bristol Parkway station, Bath Spa, London and Cheltenham, Cardiff, Swindon and Swansea as well as Newquay in Cornwall.

Coach and bus services include both National Express and local city buses. While National Express buses allow passengers to explore Devon and Cornwall's resorts or Wiltshire and Bath at their leisure, local Wessex Connect buses to Weston-Super-Mare offer a seaside alternative. Taxi services are offered via Checker Cars, a dedicated airport taxi operators standing ready and waiting at the taxi rank outside the passenger terminal.

Passengers with taxi requirements need to book in at the booking desk, where they will be given a fixed price for their journey and will be allocated a taxi. It is possible to make a payment by debit or credit card at the booking desk or to pay the driver directly by cash at the end of the journey.

The busiest time for checking in at Bristol Airport is between the hours of 06.00 am and 07.30 am. Passengers are advised to avail themselves of online check-in, which many of the international carriers offer, Easyjet and Ryanair among them. In addition to the regular check-in desks there are also 6 self-service kiosks immediately in front of the check-in area. Passengers flying with KLM and Air France are permitted to use these self-service machines.

Most of Bristol Airport's shops, snack bars and restaurants are situated beyond the security control area. It is therefore easier to check-in straight away and go through security, if going shopping or having a meal before the flight is part of the departure itinerary.

For passengers with a lot of luggage there are trolleys available which can be obtained by paying either £2.00 or EUR 2.00 to a vending machine. Trolleys are available at ten different locations throughout the airport and passengers without the correct currency can use their credit card to release the trolley. It is possible to book a porter service for travelers with reduced mobility or a large number of suitcases.

The airport offers passengers internet, WiFi and printing services in several locations. Passengers get up to 30 minutes of free WiFi connections, when they connect their Smartphone, laptop or tablet to the Bristol Airport WiFi network. In the check-in area there are printing services available via the internet desks in the terminal; by using a mobile phone or Blackberry/PDA, passengers can log on and send items to print; they'll receive a pin number which allows them to release their business or travel document from the airport's printer point.

For families with infants there are baby changing facilities and the Superdrug shop, which is located beyond the security control area, offers a pre-order service for baby food, nappies and milk.

The Servisair Executive Lounge is available to all passengers for a small charge. Passengers with time to spare can get complimentary snacks, drinks and newspapers, watch TV while sitting in comfortable armchairs and have free WiFi access throughout the lounge. The Executive Lounge is available for just £17.49 per person.
